  • One of the many blooms on a yellow rose bush we earlier thought had died. It is loaded with blooms. I am so pleased now to have 2 yellow rose bushes.
What a joy to see that bright spot of  yellow to catch my eye.

#4 son of Boy Genius testing for his 5th degree rank on his brown belt. Next will be the temporary black belt

On this shot he had broken the 2 boards by his hand  and then swings around to break 2 more with his foot. The black belt is one of his brothers to the right holding the broken boards
Paul had just split with his hand. Paul is 14, the youngest of the family of 4 boys.

Are we proud of him and his brothers? What do you think? LOL

  • Isn't it wonderful discovering what was once thought to be dead, is now full of life and beauty!

If I did anything like that video, I would surely hurt myself. Congrats to the brown belt!

  • @WildWomanOfTheWest - Oh yes, to be so buff and limber.

  • You and your camera are doing some mighty fine work there! And ditto what Wild Woman said!

  • That is one beautiful rose.

  • That is a lovely surprise of spring or summer to have a bush come back.

    Those boys deserve your praises!

  • that is about the most gorgeous yellow rose i've ever seen ... oh my ... that breaking boards ... wowie!! kool!!

  • You have every right to be proud! Congrats to the boys!
    That rose is stunning!
    HUGS!

  • @cerwindoris - Thank you!@Dominie - Welcome back. Thank you for the comment.@windupherskirt - Thank you!@AdamsWomanFell - Thanks!

  • I was reading through the last post I missed and laughing to myself. I don't wear make-up yet but who knows, maybe someday I will. My cheeks are kind of naturally rosy sometimes and then those hot flashes! I am feeling much better although last night I woke up with shoulder pain and took some strong Tylenol. Mostly it's just a little achy and not something I have to take pain meds for. During the night when you have weird dreams about the earth reeling to & fro like a drunkard, like the Bible says, maybe it was me rolling back and forth and hurting my own shoulder! Lol!

I think you should be proud of the boys. Do you suppose old people like us would throw out joints out of place if we'd take classes like that? I've thought about doing that but that's as far as it got. The rose is beautiful!

  • Great photo of the rose! And you have every reason to be proud of the boys!

  • @mcbery - I took some instruction in Judo but there is much body contact in it. I was in my 50's and became humbled when thrown to the floor by a 12 year old boy and pinned or held down by any male. It just bothered me besides I was not that good and had many bruises. The grandsons are in Tia Kwon Do, very vigorous but not as much bodily contact...or so I think as I watch them.
The rosy glow of hot flashes can give you a "dewy" look that can be appealing LOL

  • @murisopsis - Thank you! We have 5 grandsons, 4 are brothers. All really nice fellows.

  • that is an award winning photo of the rose

my boys were both in karate -well, Kempo I believe

  • @Babyboomerjill - thank you. I think the martial arts are very good to learn discipline and respect. It certainly gives them some vigorous exercise.
