  • Uncle Wink looks like an awesome guy.
(((hugs))) to you and your family.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss!  I'll be lifting your aunt and cousin up and praying for peace for the both of them.  I can tell from your last two posts that Uncle Wink was very special to you and he surely looked like a sweetheart in this photo.  Regarding a couple of your questions....I don't mind looking like I'm getting old but I mind feeling it a lot.  Aches and pains are my greatest complaint.  I love my aunts and uncles too and, yes, they have made a huge difference in my life.  Probably the greatest is that they've all loved me...as they do all my siblings and cousins.  We are a very tight knit family, what a blessing!  I know we are very lucky in that respect.  I'll be thinking about you.  Peace

  • @C_L_O_G - thank you , he was quite an influence on my life. Always happy, optimistic and just a real nice guy.
@shellisland - Thank you for your sweet comment.Uncle Wink was actually named Wendell. I must ask Aunt D how he got that nickname. I never called him any thing but Uncle Wink. Family certainly grows sweeter and more important as one gets older. Not that it is not important when you are younger but as I age I appreciate my family more all the time.

  • @Lucy_or_Ethel - Sounds like a wonderful man. People like that are some of life's best blessings.
As I get older it seems that family and friends become more important too. I cherish the time they chose to share with me.

  • What a sweet looking couple.  So sorry for your loss.  It is so sad to see the older generation leaving us.

  • @dingdongdingbat - Sad indeed but yet sobering to realize I am 2 aunts away from being the oldest generation of the family. Thanks for your comment.

  • I wish I had more photos of family...

  • Dear Uncle Wink. . . what a great guy.

  • @murisopsis -  I am blessed with family that shares any photos they may have and having the internet makes it so easy to scan and email pictures. Thanks for your comment.

  • Uncles are wonderful when they are good men. My Daddy was one of my grandparent's ten natural born children -- eight boys and two girls and every single one outstanding. There are only three of the boys left now, and my Daddy was the first to take his Heavenly Journey five and a half years ago. The shift in the family dynamics is one that I just can't get used to. Whenever I see one of my uncles, I want to hug their necks, and never let go. It's like it is something tangible of my Daddy and it feels like I can never get enough of whatever is left of him. Your posts over the last few days about this special man have been poignant and telling. I know you loved him, and you will miss him. May all of your family find comfort in the good, good memories. I'm so sorry for your loss.

  • @Buckeyegirlie - Thank you BEG for your sweet words.

  • Awesome! Thanks for subbing and visiting my site! God bless, ~ Pete

  • So sorry for your loss and what a beautiful family.

  • Sorry for your loss. I had one uncle that was close to us, Uncle John and he's in the nursing home a shadow of his former self. Sad. The rest are living in other states. God bless your family with hugs.

  • @mcbery - Thank you my friend!

  • I am sorry too for your loss and feel also for your cousin and aunt. Your aunt and uncle look like such a sweet couple. My sympathies to you all!

  • @ColeenSr - Thank you, they were a sweet couple and dear people. My aunt will eventually leave her home and move to live with her daughter 80 miles away. She said her tomatoes are ripening in her garden and she doesn't want them to waste so will move as soon as the season for them is over. As usual she remains level headed and practical.

  • So sorry for your loss
    glad you enjoyed the funnies!
