Whoa...what happened?
I wonder what happened to this?
Kind'a looks like a cactus
This double one was the only one along the roadside that looked like this. Should normally look like these
~~~~~
I think this vehicle has seen better days. Note the wire and latches on the hood . Do you think this must have held the hood closed?
Interesting paint job. I'm sure there is much history with this vehicle, but we'll never know what happened to this truck.
That cactus looks happy to me!, Can't say the same for the truck, it is sad!
I love the old truck -- good subject for a '24' (photo exercise in which you take 24 shots of the same subject -- 24 being the # of shots on the smallest roll of 35 mm film). It must have some wonderful stories to tell!
I see that there is a two headed snake on display somewhere in LA. If we can have a two headed snake I guess we can have a two-blossom cactus. Love the old truck.
I love the junk truck! Also the double flower picture. It's beautiful.
That is a very interesting cactus or yucca or whatever.
i dunno know much 'bout no cactii ... but love that old truck (and those wide rearview mirrors ... nice fotos missy!!
Two headed cactus spells unigue!
Truck with a story, too bad we can't hear it.
@SewWorthIt - Thanks for your comment, a sad truck indeed.
@slmret - I had not heard of the 24 photo exercise, but I might have taken 24 of this old truck as it held a fascination for my camera.@vexations - Thanks for your comment, a 2 headed snake would be even worse than a one headed snake! Double creepy.
@mcbery - @LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - @windupherskirt - @Donna7 - Thank you for your comments.
That isn't really a cactus plant is it? What weed is it? I love the photos of old things that you post
@Dominie - Dominie I am not sure what plant it is, it is a roadside weed of some sort.
That truck is the double of the one from the animated film Cars, my nephew loved it.
great shots - I think the plant may be mullein:
Pastorial
Oh, grey hill,
Where the grazing herd
Licks the purple blossom,
Crops the spiky weed!
Oh, stony pasture,
Where the tall mullein
Stands up so sturdy
On its little seed!
@Margo73 - that's cool. thanks for the comment
@mlbncsga - Thanks for the information and the lovely poem. Yes you are right. Seeing a double head on it is a first for me.
If you find out the name of the plant let me know. We have lots here too.
love the truck. think it is for sale??
@TheSunnyC - I think it is mullein as mlbncsgo said. There is lots of of in this area here. Never saw one with the 2 heads though have you?
@buddy71 - I think the fellow has it along with other Chevy trucks to use for parts but I could ask. Thanks for your comment.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - no need to. i could never get it back here. lol or have the $$ or time to fix it up. it is a great photo op though.
Love your pics.
Great shots friend! I've seen those plants before but never knew what they were called. I'm glad you noticed the double and shared it. There's an old, old salvage yard about twenty miles from here that I want to go and photograph - I just don't know when! Very nice photos. Peace
Cool photos! The truck is great!
@Mal_P - @shellisland - @murisopsis - I thank you for your comments. There is something very mysterious about these old vehicles,barns and houses. The 'beautiful ugly' is my descriptive phrase for them.
I do the same thing - I wonder about the history.
"Cactus" : nature finds solution to survive in extrem conditions .
The yellow flowers are splendid .
I am not sure the pictured car be in bloom one day !!!! perhaps you can paint a yellow flower on it . Poor car !
Love
Michel
@Randy7777 - At least we know it was used a great deal before it was parked for the last time.
@fauquet - Thank you Michel for your comment. A yellow flower could only help this vehicle's looks, but yet I am intrigued by the mystery of this once nice vehicle.
It seems the cactus got screwed! The end result is good though... pretty flowers!
I would love to purchase the front view of the red pick-up! Do you sell any of your work?
@ZSA_MD - hahahaha - you are so bad!
@shellisland - Aw shoot I wanna go with you.
That truck is awesome, woman! Nice, nice shot. Don't you know she has stories to tell?...
lol you get 2 for the price of one? lol
yes, that is an old one-reminds me of Mater on that movie cars-I've never watched it but it's an old pickup truck with no paint job to speak of
@WildWomanOfTheWest - i am flaterred you like it, it is not copy writted so do with it as you please, and thank you for asking permission.
@ZSA_MD - Chuckle chuckle!
@Lucy_or_Ethel - Thank you!!! I am going to pair it with one I am getting from jamekablue.
@WildWomanOfTheWest - What did jamekablue have? A simlar vehicle?
@Lucy_or_Ethel - Here's the link to it. http://jamekablue.xanga.com/753703560/busted/
Hey Cousin......have you seen the show called The Pickers. Two guys from Iowa who travel around and visit people who "collect / hoard / pile up" old junk. Interesting show. Maybe they'd like the truck...LOL How are you? Can't wait to see you in Tucson!!! Pray for cool weather! We're heading over to Tempe / Mesa week from Friday to get Linnea settled in dorm. I'm planning on HOTT weather but hope it's dry. I've got to learn to get up early, get my errands and watering done and then take it easy in the afternnon. I think I'm depressed because I don't WANT to get up....try to envision a fun task I could do and it doesn't work! Any advice!
Beauty in different shots! I love old rusty metal, especially in the form of a cute old truck! Oh, and I've seen those plants around here; I'd never expect them to be in IA, but the way the wind has been blowing out here, I'm not suprised you have them!
I think the bloom son that cactus are amazing and love the old truck.
@WildWomanOfTheWest - That's a great shot , the broken windshield looks like a head might have made that damage!
@Calif_Cuz - Yes I watch The Pickers! Very interesting. I'll be thinking of you as you get Linnea settled.I'm sure many tears will be shed. Hard to have energy in this heat! Thanks for your comment Cuz!
@Richgem - @Grannys_Place - Thank you for the comments.
If we could just go on without a manufactured crisis we'd all breathe a little easier!
I had to bury my head in the sand the last few days because I have Dr. appt. and wanted my bp to calm down a little. Lol! Have a great day!
@mcbery - have a good day
@Lucy_or_Ethel - I do wonder!
I love picture posts!
