These are pretty cool shots. I like finding abandoned buildings to photograph. I don't know if we still have that brand here. I haven't bought animal feed in several years.
Yes, There is a plant in this area. We used to live on the same street, but live farther away now. When they are 'cooking' it doesn't smell very good!
We have Purina around here but I quit buying it because they quit sponsoring Glenn. Talk about smell from a plant that makes it? We just read in the Limbaugh Letter that in Japan they are making meat out of poop! I was gagging at the thought and the smell of that?! Lol! Love the old Purina checkerboard. I still remember buying bags with that design when I was a little girl.
I have been enjoying the pictures, Nancy! And it looks like a whole bunch of other people are, too. And the advertisement logo on an abandoned grain elevator isn't much of a promotion, but the pictures are still wonderful.
Nostalgy of the past time !! Great photo report.

@C_L_O_G - @SewWorthIt - @mcbery - @Buckeyegirlie - Thanks for the comments. This grain elevator business was relocated but this remains. We used to buy our milk re placer for baby calves from this once active site.
yes, and I have a photo of the feedstore somewhere that the sign on the tower is all faded, too.
There must be one around here someplace.
Your photos are wonderful. Are you doing anything with them besides sharing with us?
@Babyboomerjill - I'd like to see that picture if/when you locate it Jill.
@Dominie - Thanks for your comment Dominie. Actually posting some on here and reading the comments is grand fun but even if I had no avenue like this to share them I enjoy it so much I'd do it if only for my eyes to see.
thanks and I might have to take it again cause I can't seem to find it but it could be on one of those CD's I've got in the closet or do you say DVD? lol It would be easier when I drive by today to take another one.
@Babyboomerjill - Yes that would be a mission to accomplish today LOL
I get out at least once a day in this heat and I'm going to check on my ex mil at 11am and then open my prayer group at the church(it's just a small group) and it's on the next street from the feed store. No garage sales today except one down the street from me(it's going to be cool today just 105 I think. lol it's already almost 10am so I better go shower. love you and a hear you're 100 today Lucy!
I miss the Purina checked pattern, wonderful shots!
Our equine are Nutrena fans.
As a farm boy I remember Purina well. Neat photos
@vexations - Thanks for the comment I wish you a nice weekend!
@WildWomanOfTheWest - Methinks Purina made more profit from our farm operation than we made.LOL
nice shots ma'am ... our grain elevator is the hub of activity round here ... there are some old silos not in use anymore ... got newer safer ones i think ... i don't think ours carries any livestock feed ... dog food yes
I love how you're getting on with your photography! Actually, I think I've already said that to you but I really mean it. I think there's a Purina mill at Friona, Tx. We pass it on roadtrips sometimes. Peace
Love the photos. I don't think we have one of those anywhere near by but we have a few candy shops around!!
@windupherskirt - Things change don't they? The only livestock we feed are 2 cats and Bella Beautiful Beagle, and the occasional opossum and raccoon.
@shellisland - Has your daughter fully recovered from her knee surgery?
@Babyboomerjill - Yes 100 today, Lucy is ageless isn't she? 83 degrees at the moment and not real bad out. I hope you accomplish all you plan today.
Not sure if we do or not. My aunt used to be a secretary at the offices in St. Louis. She loved her job and we thought it was so cool that she worked there. (We lived in the country on a hay farm) Love the pics!
@SealedbyGrace - Thank you for the comment! Have a nice weekend.
livestock here is the Skooter and Skeeter (dawg and horse, respectively) ... I've thought about food for the owls but am not confident of my mouse-catching prowess to tether one a mouse leg and stake it out! eek!! and forget the snake idea!!
@windupherskirt - That would be beyond any call of duty to catch mice for these sweet little owls....but Pet Smart might have some you can buy LOL Forget about the snakes but Mr.& Mrs. Owl just may take care of that and make it a teachable moment for the kids. Have you had an opportunity to get any more pictures of the spa loving little creatures?
@Lucy_or_Ethel - I'm not sure it'll ever be 100% but she's doing real good. She's bound and determined to wear high heels for her graduation ceremony on the 13th She's going to be either valedictorian or salutatorian...we won't know until Thursday. I'm so very proud of her and her little family! Thank you for asking and please excuse me for taking advantage and bragging! Peace
Oh man I remember the old Purina Feed here in this area many years ago and was torn down a long time ago. We now have a feed and grain and a farmers market within walking distance. Great shots.
Neat pictures - Thanks for the captions and comments!
