Quiet, uneventful, peaceful times~~~~~~
It has been quiet at the jolly little cottage lately. Fritz leaves the house early each morning and is working long hours at the saw mill.The extreme hot weather has eased into reasonably cool and lovely weather with a few bursts of rain to settle the dust. The corn field across the road is drying enough for the leaves to make noise as they rustle with the breeze. It's a melancholy time as I think of the long autumn days here when the kids would be back in school after a noisy, fun, busy summer and I had the place all to myself. You could hear the silence.
The sunsets have been sensational here.

Because we live at the base of a large hill we do not see the actual sunrise but we get these marvelous pastels in the south and western skies from the rising sun.

I learned why the new paint was shedding from this bench.

Polly uses it as her scratching post and she couldn't care less that I know.
~~~~~~~
I hope you have a good day today and nice weekend. Do you have any weekend plans? Our plans will be going to my brother and his wife's home Sunday for dinner. We're looking forward to it.
I always enjoy your photos.-- Enjoy your Sunday . -- It is always nice to have a meal that someone else has prepared!
Your Polly looks like my Bree. We are having company for supper tonight. Tomorrow morning my husband is leaving early for a trip. He's taking the few belongings and the cremains (did you know that was a word? I didn't) of our friend to her nephew in Kansas. Next he'll go to our daughter's in TX. and then to Ala. to visit friends. I haven't decided what I'll do Sat. Maybe nothing.
Sun. will be church and probably some of the family will come for lunch/dinner.
@SewWorthIt - A meal I do not have to prepare is always far better than my own.
Polly looks like my Catherine did. I had her for about 6 years and then when my new daughter in law came into our family and has severe cat allerigies, I had to give her back to the rescue place where we adopted her. So seeing other people's kitty's is theraputic for this sad cat lover's soul! I could still bring myself to tears missing her if I "went there"!
Your photos are always so beautiful. We have a big street fair this weekend and I'm volunteering at the Hospice Booth. Looking forward to that and our temps have cooled way down. Going to a community worship service tomorow night. And church activities of course on Sunday....a good weekend ahead of me! God bless you!
@ata_grandma - I do enjoy having a guests here, it is fun isn't it? Sounds like your man will be doing a lot of traveling. Yes 'cremains' is a word I know but wouldn't simply 'remains' be sufficient? LOL Sounds like you have a nice quiet time also.
Oh Polly, and I was wondering why the paint was shedding!! Nice pics of the sky.
@Bumblypick - Oh my, isn't it something how we get attached to our pets!
We may just attend Sunday School and leave before church in order to be on time for our lunch at my brother's. Today I will have lunch with my handicapped sister, now it is cool and rainy. The clothing I laid out last night for today will not do so I will need to get a sweater out. I've wondered about Hospice volunteering, it is such a good organization.
@Mal_P - Thank you for your comment. Hope you have a nice day.
Hospice is a wonderful organization. I love volunteering with them! It's so nice to be able to help those who are getting ready to leave and to point them in a good direction towards Jesus!
Love the photos. The sky is lovely.
Have a great time at Joe and Judy's. Wish I could be there, too.
@Dominie - You know you'd be very warmly welcomed at their home and at their table!
@oxlorixo - Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks Mornin Glorie....
I just had a veritable "Feast for my eyes" over your last four blogs. I've not been on Xanga as much the last month -- lots and lots of family things as well as a trip to Ohio to see Oldest Son(and his lovely wife) and Youngest Daughter, to attend a 40th year class reunion and visit Certain Man's stepmother, now in a nursing home in Columbus. I read this post with a great deal of nostalgia, so many emotions -- Nancy-girl, where did the years go? I miss those "back to school" days of getting school supplies and new sneakers and school clothes. I never thought it would go so fast -- How did we get to be so -- ahem!!! -- mature?
Polly is just giving it that "rustic" look!
As always you have a wonderful post.
@Buckeyegirlie - Time does pass so quickly! To be 'mature' happens doesn't it? Glad you stopped by my friend.
@murisopsis - @TheSunnyC - Thank you for your comments!
Your photos and your writing are a poem .
Love
Michel
@fauquet - Michel, thank you kind sir. I hope you have a nice weekend.
Love your photos, especially of the cat.
The only thing more beautiful than a sunset is a picture of a majestic kitty.
@vexations - @LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - Thanks for your comments. Have a nice weekend.
I was hoping my wife would get over the flu by the weekend, and she announced to me at 4:00 a.m. this morning that shew was well. lol So, finally after her being gone 2 weeks on a Hawaii trip and sick one week upon her return, maybe I can have some fellowship with my bride of 56 years.
Loved the peaceful photos and especially of the cat. lol They do love scratching. We had to buy scratching posts for one cat we had. lol
@ANVRSADDAY - Frank I am hoping you folks can enjoy the weekend, both in good health. You have 56 years together so we follow you folks, we're just getting started then, we have 47 and 1/2.Thank you for the comment.
Beautiful sunset photo. Your Polly is a pretty girl and like my Ali, doesn't care who knows what she is using for a scratching post that she isn't supposed to be.
@Grannys_Place - Thanks for the comment. How is your husband getting along?
that is a pretty sunrise or is it sunset?
hey, your cat is mean looking!
@Babyboomerjill - Sunset. Polly is a tease. She has mood swings rather quickly,I think she is bi-polar.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - Excuse me the 1st is the sunset the other is the sunrise's colors showing it's colors but onto the west sky.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - lol bipolar cat! yes, I think on your other blog you had a sunrise and I was trying to catch up on everyone.
