  • A repost in response to Fauquet's request to see the country church we attend.

When Fritz joined them I did make the mistake of asking them to pose. A mistake you ask?  Yes, giving youngest grandson Paul an opportunity to ham it up! His brothers told him, "now Paul you behave" they demanded. He is a rascal, a sweet sweet little rascal! Of the several I took this is the best one.

    the boys and g'pa

I remind Fritz that someday he will be happy we have all the photos I've taken. He gets weary of my compulsion. If he would smile and if Paul would behave only one shot would've been needed!

A couple of years ago I asked my grandsons and granddaughter to pose for a quick picture.

i then noticed Paul was missing so we rounded him up to join us.

Everyone but me knew the little fellow in front wearing the bright blue jacket had joined us.

No one knew who he was, but the expressions of my grandchildren's faces proves they knew the little stranger had joined us.

  • It looks like your camera is "behaving" now.  It certainly captured a great picture of your sweet guys.

  • What a good-looking bunch of guys you caught there! And I love the church in the background....looks like an older one.

  • @AmericanJanet - That is why I left the church in the shot. This church has been on this hill out in the country for over 150 years. I'll edit this post and add some info.

  • my Dave says the same thing-"live now and then you won't have to remember it with a photo." But I want to keep this moment frozen in time-I say.

  • This is a treasured photo.

  • I had to chuckle at your comment about Fritz getting weary of your compulsion. Mark finally has learned to just smile and go along with it and soon it will be over with.
What a neat picture of grandpa with his Bible tucked under his arm. A picture even Paul will treasure one day!

  • Lovely photo of your menfolk. In a few years you will take time to remember to happy occasions that you have photographed - and so will Fritz !!!!! Marie

  • It has to warm you heart to be the Wife of one and the Grandma to all the others in that wonderful looking group of guys! A classic, heartwarming shot, and I'm so proud of you for holding on to your femininity against so much testosterone.

  • @Buckeyegirlie - Tricia, the wife of BG and mother of 4 of these boys is a Proverbs 31 woman and totally feminine. It amuses me to see her clothes line with all those denim jeans and then her pink and lace.  A great contrast. I love it! Once while working in the antique shop I had 7 year old Sam with me. At lunch time I gave him my little purple coin purse with the exact amount of our lunch order waiting next door. He saw the purple purse and withdrew his hand saying,"that's a girl's, I want to put the money in my pocket?" Of  course I loudly scolded him....NOT.....we are not very PC here in southern Iowa. LOL

  • Family is surely a blessing as you already know....great pics!!

  • Where was the call for country church photos?

  • Oh that is sweet. The photo of all the granchildren together with the little fellow in blue is funny. I tried to Rec your post, but its not allowing me!!

  • Was the boys all there for a visit? or do you see them at church all the time?  Both my sons have fallen away from "organized" religion and I never know for sure that I get an honest answer when I ask if they have Bible Studies at home.  Bobby and I often do Bible Studies at home but not in a regular time slot, it seems to be a few minutes every night.  The neighbors next door say they would be happy to study with us but as yet with her college schedule and his work schedule and Bobby's horrendous work schedule it hasn't happened yet.

  • That is so funny.....what's one more? I miss a smaller country church.

  • What a beautiful old church! And love the ones of all the grandkids smiling big! You are blessed indeed!

Tell Fritz your photos are precious and will be a part of your legacy some day. My mom died in April...and I became the "keeper" of the photographs in the family...I have divided them all up amongst all her children and grandchildren (she has greatgrandchildren and great-great's, too)...and now that she is gone...all the photos seem more important.

  • lol Maybe the little guy needed a "family". We have one g-son that always has to be the clown in pictures and if he isn't there one of the other ones seems to think they have to fill in for him. Tell that man of yours that as good looking as he is a smile would really make him stunning! :)

  • My compliments on a fine looking family.

  • Love the photos and the little stranger! hehe. My mother has a photo of her cousins and herself with a neighbor boy in the background hamming it up... hehe.

  • @vexations -  Xanga friend Fauquet wanted to see the country church we attend.

  • What beautiful photos and memories. That little guy wearing the bright blue jacket who joined int he photo has the most devilish grin on his face. He s a little cutie and you have a beautiful family.

  • What  nice  pictures!!   Your 5 Grandsons are a good looking group.. There is no harm in 1 extra!. LOL    I have 5 sons ( all within a 7 year period).  There was always an extra boy or two around !

Thought for a little bit when I read 'New Salem Church", that it was in Illinois.   There is a 'New Salem'  there. (Abe Lincolns childhood territory)  .

  • I think they will be thankful for all the pictures someday too. That's what I keep telling my children. The stranger is funny and cute so are the rest of your grandchildren.

  • Love the pics of your grandkids. How precious!  That little boy that slipped in is just too cute! Love that!

We have attended small country churches and loved them. (attended 2)

  • All these family photos, in front of the church, brought to mind, "The Family that Prays Together, Stays Together."    I wanta visit that church.

  • @GrannyHummingbird - You'd certainly be very welcome anytime. So far within our congregation"The Family that Prays Together, Stays Together" has proved true.

  • Thank you. I am glad to see the Church that you attend . This is comforting .
i loved to see you and tpur grandchildren on the steps of the church.

    Love
    Michel
