Yep, the flat lands. I used to live in Kansas City and I drove to Iowa quite a few times. It's so boring it becomes interesting, especially with the sun roof open, some good music, and a desirable destination!
@DivaJyoti - Thanks for the comment. Northern Iowa has the real flat lands. Here it has many rolling hills and timber. This shot was taken from a hill looking onto the river bottom land near the Grand River.
This gives me all the more reason to move to Iowa. =]
@buddy71 - I sat there and watched a bright red pick up drive by before I untangled my camera from my stuff. Wouldn't a red truck have livened this shot up a lot?
@Lucy_or_Ethel - I've had my eye on that state [and a boy] for quite some time =]
@Lucy_or_Ethel - haha...i have done the same thing, let a shot go by and then think that i need to get the shot. yes a red truck would have been the dot on the i.
I@AlluringAddiction - I do not know about that boy but I do know Iowa and it is a beautiful place to live. The seasonal changes are wonderful. Even the winters can be fun. Cross country skiing, sledding etc....always something to do in Iowa.
That first shot is neat -- not a red truck: not a problem -- it blends in with the corn and the dust to make a wonderful photo!
That's beautiful country indeed!!!!
(btw... the rec button wouldn't work for me!
Nice series.
you could probably photoshop a red truck in, but I think the shot is beautiful this way too.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - I drove back and forth KC to Des Moines. Is that N. Iowa?
i absolutely LOVE both shots!! mos eggsalent!!
@DivaJyoti - DM is 90 miles from us so not northern IA more like central IA. Sounds like you saw IA from I35.NW Iowa is very flat, parts of eastern and our part of Southern IA is timbered and hills. Iowa has something for everyone.
I love that first shot, makes me feel like I'm actually there.
Hmmmm.....looks a lot like this area, ESPECIALLY the dusty road. YOU SHOULD SEE MY BRIGHT RED CAR!!! Seriously, it's beautiful. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. When I get those questionnaires, asking "Where would you rather be right now?", I answer, "Home." I know you must feel the same way.
Theses made me smile! Love the sunshine!
That is a fantastic pic. with the truck. Our dust flumes behind the vehicles are like that on our roads here too.
Wow, what beauty! Skill with the camera as well! I'm still trying to learn how to use my new camera. I need lessons real bad.
It's been awhile since we saw dust! Love the pictures.
Love it. Living in a lane or an unpaved road makes for a dusty house. I guess that never hurt anyone. Have a great week!
How I remember eating the blinding dust of a car ahead of me on a country road! This post's beautiful pictures makes me forget that. Lovely, Sister.
@mcbery - Plenty of dust on our road. We pay to have dust control chemical placed on the road near the house and it really helps. You have a nice week also!

@windupherskirt - Thank you my friend.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - Yes that sounds right. I saw the occasional pumpkin crop to break up the scenery.

love the dirt the truck is picking up,too.
@Babyboomerjill -
Harvest time in Iowa usually is dusty not only on the gravel roads but in the fields they make quite a cloud of it also.
That is one beautiful road! Such a great shot, perfect!
I expect that Clint Eastwood is driving that road toward the Bridges of Madison County! If he stops by for a visit, take pictures!
