HARVEST TIME

The view from high on our hill over looking the corn field. The far tree line and bluffs follow the tributaries of the Grand River. The nearer trees follow the water ways or the creeks. They are bone dry since we've had no rain for weeks. The harvest is now done in our area.

Almost exactly a year ago I had my knee repaired. A torn meniscus. Up until I tore it I didn't know I had one. Once torn it let me know 24/7 that it was there and it was torn. The repair went well but the sugeon told me I'd most likely not be able to return to my hour long, lovely hikes up and down Wilson's hill.(our neighboring land) I had not torn it hiking. It really broke my heart since hiking had become such a joy to Fritz and me. I tried to be content simply taking walks but recently the autumn scenery and the wonder of the sights on the hill tempted me to try hiking again. I am so delighted, so very happy to have no pain or ill effects from my daily hour long hikes over hill and over dale. What joy! I had missed it so much.
Sights like this:

Evidently an apartment house for wood peckers.
Life is good here in Lucy's little corner of the world and I hope it is good wherever you are!

yes, I'm back to normal too after my shoulder replacement a year ago, too.
Life is good! but when the cold comes my bones ache all over. lol
I'm glad you took a hike...but please be careful, he maybe meant that you COULD but that it would have to be in the form of going easier than pre surgery days. Don't want to mess up a good thing. Do love seeing the pictures of your hikes though. I'm hoping to get Frodo out and about again, but we'll have to see how Cardiac Rehab goes. Week number three is here and still no great improvements, heart wise.
Oh how I rejoice with you, I know the ache of a soul that wants to explore the outdoors, when the body has other plans. I am still somewhat limited, but not nearly as I was a couple years ago, while bed ridden. Life is so good! (((hug)))
Beautiful shots~
love the shot of bizzyness in the cornfield!! I'm glad you and Fritz and hike and explore once again ... years and years ago I had knee ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) surgery (the therapy was murder i tell ya) but have been sashaying around without a twinge since!!
So glad you are once again able to enjoy some long treks. I love the photos, so always remember to take your camera along!
I am afraid most of my sightseeing is done from the car. My hips are "not my own" and they give me quite a bit of pain. I guess I have true "buns of steel," ---titanium steel! LOL but it hasn't made me any stronger! I just set off all the alarms at the airport! Blessings on your Sunday, friend!

thank you for your sweet comments!
Yay, that is great news. I am so jealous that you can go outside of your house and go hiking. That's one thing that I miss about living in the country. If I want to walk in the woods, I'd need to drive to a "nature trail."
@oxlorixo -
being outside is such a joy isn't it. Those nature trails are usually lovely and well maintained
worth the drive if you do not have to go too far. Thanks for the comment.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - Oh definitely, but I used to live on a few acres of land. It had a rock ledge and a stream. So the trails are definitely not the same.
I like your corner of the world, thanks for your comments too!
Blessings to you this weekend
Mike
