The number one killer of women
Last week at this time we had just received word that a friend of our family had died suddenly. She was 39, married and had 2 teenagers. For several days she had been having pain between her shoulders, her only symptom she had complained of before she suddenly passed away. Maybe there would have been nothing possible to diagnose this before hand if she had known the symptoms, then again there might have been.
I have been having high blood pressure and heart palpitations and have appreciated so much the seriousness my doctor has taken my complaints. Of course I am 67 years old and not 39 but nevertheless young or old all the symptoms for women are not the same as for a man. More women die from heart disease than do men since our symptoms are so different. As a Christian I do not fear death but am not eager to embrace it or to be disabled if I can avoid it. Online are many sites that list the possible symptoms of heart trouble for women as well as for men and I recommend that if you do not know then maybe you'd want to look into it.

Getting out and about with my camera does my heart good.

Not the sunny day I was hoping for, note the drab gray sky.

Years and years ago this barn was red. The old gray barn ain't what it used to be could apply to Lucy as well LOL.
42 degrees here and raining this early morning. A good day to get a crock pot of soup going, take up my knitting and stay cozy inside. What do you do on a rainy day?

That is a beautiful barn.
On rainy days I usually edit photos and make backups if needed.
I'm so sorry to hear about your family friend. So sad when someone goes so young. I'm sure her family is devastated.
Lovely barn. One of my favorite things to do is make soup!
@C_L_O_G - Thanks for your comment. Time well spent isn't it when you are working with your photos and cozy inside!
@tracy - Thanks for your comment. I make a pot of soup once a week. Fortunately my Fritz loves it also. Yes, my friend's husband and their 14 and 18 year old children are devastated but very comforted by the support of their many friends and the community.
What a barn it must have been back in the day. Great gray ladies just get greater with time. I've learned to compare women with fine wine rather then old gray barns. I also plan on living a long time.
i love the barn you capture ... it's soul is right there!! it's raining here too ... still in jammies ... got no where to go today, so I'll just work a while and then head for the "laboratory" where I'll play with some stones and make some jewelry!! yay!!
Wow....that's so sad and sobering at the same time....love your barn pic! I'm with you on taking my camera out. I don't get to do it as often as I like, but it's theraputic for me always! On rainy days it's fun to snuggle up on the couch and watch a good movie or take a nap with the sound of rain coming down. God bless you!
That family has had a lot of loss lately haven't they. So sad to die so young with a family that will miss her so.
Love to be knitting with you and having soup for lunch. It has been cloudy and rainy here, too. But I have not taken time to do either.
So sorry to hear about your friend -- a good lesson for all of us! That's a beautiful barn ~ ~ ~
@homealivein45 - Lovely comment, thank you!
@windupherskirt - Don't you just love days like this! So cozy.
Have fun with your jewelry, I know you'll make some beautiful things!
@Bumblypick - I love the sound of rain on the roof also, very comforting to be secure inside while it rains. Aren't digital cameras wonderful! So easy and inexpensive to have all the pictures you want. God bless you and have a nice weekend.
@Dominie - Did you have the time to begin any of your crocheting projects? Rain there also, must be a wide spread system, it began here last pm and has been rather steady. Thanks for your comment.
@slmret - These old barns are getting to be few and far between. They used to be the hub of a farm, too bad it would not be cost effective to restore them. Have a nice weekend.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - yes, i always adore the rain!! went out to pull a semiwet blanket off the horse to let it dry out and over to the post office ... 'posed to have 5" to 6" of snow by Monday!! much cozyness during a snowfall!!
@windupherskirt - 'Tis that season for snow.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - yeah, it's a comin ... probly more for youse than for meese! i love a good fat fluffy snowflake!
@windupherskirt - From the inside looking out it is loverly and not bad to hike or cross country ski on but oh I do hate to drive on snow and ice...or ice covered snow. *whine*
@Lucy_or_Ethel - yes, a newfallen snow is perfect to explore in ... although I hate to "mess up" that sparkle in the sun ... I don't mind driving in it IF I am the only one on the road!! the "others" do make me nervous! haha
@windupherskirt - I am the'others' the fearful, the overly cautious who plug along slowly while large 4 wheel drive vehicles with drivers who cuss and swear as they finally are able to speed around me in a dusting of snow. LOL
take care. As the saying goes "Getting old is not for sissies."
@Lucy_or_Ethel - haha i was thinking of the "others" as the kamikazee "katy bar the door" idjits make the roads dangerous ...
@ata_grandma - That's for sure, that's for sure. Thanks for the comment.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - You're right. I'm doing one of the things I love most.
Today was gray and it sprinkled in the morning but we dried out in the afternoon. Me and my drug soaked body went geocaching! I was doing OK until we sat down for a meal... it had been about 6 hours and the drugs were wearing off... Still it was fun and it got my mind off it!
@murisopsis - At least you had a little time of relief and fun! It does help to get your mind off of not feeling good doesn't it? Hope you recover completely and soon.
As someone with heart disease; this is a great and needful post. Sorry about your friend though. On rainy days I try to get my housework done....and nap. It was cold here today and windy.
I so agree with you that no mater what age, we women need to know the symptoms of heart disease in women. Great shot of that old barn.
Love the pics of the old barns. Very nice.
I am sorry for your loss.
Love the barn.
It was a rainy day here, too. Went out in the morning, but all afternoon and evening, I was pretty lazy.
Got in an extra-long nap!
on a rainy day I drink coffee and read and write.
what a sudden way to go ... and how tragic. ?
sometimes the overcast days make for the best light for photographing structures. maybe I'll dig one out that turned out very well, on a day like yours was.

@vexations - What a sweet thing to say,thank you!
