Did Plymouth make Valiant? I don't think they were very popular.
@ata_grandma - I'll have to ask Fritz, I am not sure. They were rather odd looking cars weren't they?
My husband is in to old cars.....I will check with him! He loves figuring out things like this! lol!
I remember my grandma had a Valiant. It was turquoise.
@WildWomanOfTheWest - That must have been a stunning auto. Did you gain your fondness for turquoise from your grandmother?
I think it is a Plymouth too! Bob says 'Don't think so'. Going to look it up! LOL
you find the coolest things on your walks!
@SewWorthIt - Let us know!
@grace_to_be - Thanks for your comment.
yes, I remember it-we lived near LAX and saw a lot of neat cars back in the 50's and 60's
I remember Valiants, that is an old car for sure!! ryq...No, it's not a photoshop, that is an actual piece of art that is a Christmas ornament...on scale that tree would have to be HUGE, haha!! Glad you enjoyed the funnies!! Blessings to you...Mike
That's such a neat find!
From what I was able to find, It is a Plymouth,. They were developed in mid-50's , best 'guess' from pictures I found, this is early 60's.. My very first new car was a 1954 Plymouth something. All I cared about was the color and it had to be 2 tone blue!
@SewWorthIt - thanks for the info. LOL color is my 1st concern also.
Plymouth made this car. Such a good find. In fact, this car or at least the name was the precursor to the barrcuda.
Wil thinks it was Plymouth.
I'm back.....My husband said it's a 1960 Plymouth Valiant....
@Lucy_or_Ethel - haha, maybe so!
My grandfather had one - in an ugly metallic green color! When he died my grandmother kept it (she never learned to drive) and eventually gave it to my mother to use. It had issues and I believe my parents sold it and bought the Ford stationwagon (in 1969). But that car remains in my memory!
I actually had a valiant that my daddy gave me after Daniel and I were married. It was a good little car-- got excellent gas mileage, but Daddy should have given it to someone who watched the oil a little bit better than I did. I blew the engine one cold winter day beside the freeway in Columbus Ohio with three little kids in the car -- had to climb the fence beside the freeway and haul the kids over it and traipse into a business maybe a hundred feet off the road. It was snowing like crazy and would have given a pretty penny to be home by the wood stove. They finally found someone to come and help me -- and it got towed home only to find that it was truly irreparable. I loved that old car, and have wished over and over again that I had only paid better attention. It really helped me to become more aware of the fact that a car needs more than gas in the tank and air in the tires to run. The thing I remember most about my Valiant was that the gears were changed by pushing buttons on the dash. It was an automatic, but you pushed a button to put it into reverse, the next one was neutral, the next was drive. I think some of those features are what made the car less of a "hit" with the general public. Wow! What memories a picture will trigger.
Plymouth Valiant.-maybe 1953 or 1954.
Good shot:)
@Buckeyegirlie - I am delighted these shots triggered all these memories for you! I appreciate you sharing this. I just wonder how much such a car fully restored would cost today? Thank you for your neat comment BEG!
@murisopsis - Thank you for this comment, oh the memories that our vehicles bring! Cars with "issues" can break the bank!
@Grannys_Place - thanks for your comment.
@SewWorthIt -
@Bumblypick - @buddy71 -
Thanks for your comments. So far I've not run across a Barracuda, that would be a great find! So this is a Plymouth Valiant, certainly a different looking style. Thanks for your comments.
I love Plymouth Valiants.
