Still standing after all these years
Along a 30 mile stretch of highway I traveled yesterday I saw a dozen old abandoned barns and buildings all within my camera range from the highway. I was on a time schedule so I foolishly decided not to take the time to take a few shots along the way. I was thinking that I could make my stops on the return trip. Not a good choice. Because on my return trip it was raining hard but for one brief break allowing me to hop from my vehicle and capture this:
Because I have not quite gotten the lesson learned to get those shots while I 1st see them, I will have to make a date to backtrack along that 30 mile stretch and get the photos of the other buildings. I just hope none have been bulldozed or burned down before I return to them.

These are amazing photos! Wow that tree is hugging the building. Is it a barn? ???
I really like the first photo, with the fence and green grass in contrast to the building.
When you wonderful Xanga photographers take shots of old homes and buildings, I am so intrigued! My mind immediately starts "dreaming" about who lived or worked on that property...what their lives were like...and so much more. I think old buildings "talk".
HUGS!
Magnificent shots of a wonderful old building! It's fascinating to me that old buildings can stand in such ruin for as long as they do ~ ~ ~
What a wonderful barn that once was. How sad to see such things crumble away.
hahaha, I hear you. Every time we hit this stretch of road out west, we drive by this very modest house that has been redone to look very western. I want to take a pic of it for reference for when we downsize. But, we are always in a hurry and I keep saying next trip!
Wonderful shots~
Lovely old buildings - lots of character! Hope you can capture the others!
GREAT photos ! I especially like the first one. I have to try tto remember to take my camera.
Love the old barn. The trees keep right on growing and unsettling the foundation of the barns they got planted by. Looks like life down on the farms where the original owner is no longer around.

Thank you for your comments. Having my camera with me most times when I am out and about certainly has opened my eyes to these old structures. There is such a mystery about them isn't there.
@Dominie - @WildWomanOfTheWest - It is a fun hobby and usually keeps me out of trouble LOL
@murisopsis - I hope to go back just for that purpose.
@thistlepatch - Thanks for your comment and don't forget extra batteries when you take that camera , I've also learned that the hard way LOL
@mcbery - There is such mystery with these old buildings. Thank you for your comment.
A WONDERFUL old barn! Oh, how I wish someone could restore it....but it's still beautiful, even in advanced stages of falling-down-ruin.
@AmericanJanet - Beautiful in it's ugliness isn't it?
