My Hiatus and Picture of The Week
I intentionally limited my blogging shortly after my main computer crashed. While it was being repaired I became aware of how addicted I was to being online. I think I successfully went through withdrawal. Hopefully I can browse subscriptions and catch up with everyone while leaving a comment along with my footprints and still attend to my ADL *Activities of Daily Living*
~~~~~~~
While driving along a road I frequently travel I noticed this old International truck nestled among the weeds. I was astounded I had been by it many times and had not actually “seen” it. But I like to think in summer the brush and weeds hide it from the road since I am usually on the lookout for old vehicles and old buildings. So this is my photo of the week.
Love the b/w also
Which do you like the best?
~~~~~~
Since I am so far behind in my browsing you may see my footprints with no comments, I have missed everyone.

I prefer the black & white. Not sure why. Our computer is still being fixed. I’m using an old very slow one.
@ata_grandma - Nice to hear from you!
I like color but they’re both good. I haven’t been on here as much either but still cranking out my own blog but mainly for myself.
The first Nancy warm and very beautiful!
@Babyboomerjill - Thanks for the comment Jill. I like the way Xanga archives my pictures and blogs for me to browse since 2005. Love to see the grandkids and how they’ve grown.
@andreas_d - Thank you Anreas, the color really adds to it. I need to go visit your site and see how you are doing.
I like the color better than the black and white. I love the wording on the old truck. “On the road again” was pretty popular at one time and off the top of my head I can’t recall the history but it seems there is a song with that title. Seems like our photos today have a similar theme.
@vexations - Thank you for your comment. A different view of this truck more clearly shows “On The Job Again” Rather than “road”. When I 1st saw this I also thought of Willie Nelson’s “On The Road Again” and thought it had been a long while since this vehicle was on the road. There is something intriguing about trash, junk and old vehicles and buildings isn’t there?
My first thought was I preferred the black and white. But the color in the first one has a 50s look, like the color in the slides I had copied my dad took in the early 50s. So I prefer the colored photo. I am having trouble getting back to Xanga, more on Facebook. Pat had a set back a couple of weeks ago but stabilized and is back in the care center. Mary send a photo on phone to Tom of her mom leading praise singing and playing her guitar! My mom is at home with some home health care keeping tabs on her vitals but loving being home again!
@peaceinyourheart - Thanks for the comment Bobbie. Yes the color shot does have a look about it of the older colored slides and pictures. Sorry to hear Pat had a set back but glad she is doing better. I’m sure your Mom is very happy to be in her own home. She has certainly done well hasn’t she? Yes FB is short and sweet to post to but I do like Xanga and have missed being on here. Guess since it was my 1st blogging experience Xanga will always seem like home. I like that it has made few changes in the the 7 years I’ve been on it. FB seems to like to keep us guessing what’s next LOL.
Love the color shot of the old truck! Isn’t it amazing that we can go the same path over and over before we see some significant feature!
@slmret - Thanks for the comment. Yes,I am amazed at how many things I notice since I got a digital camera. So easy and so inexpensive to shoot all the photos I want.
I think the color shot of the old car is much better in my humble opinion. It’s so good to see you posting again.
What a gorgeous truck! I wish someone would restore it.
@ZSA_MD - Thank you for the comment. I think the color shot does have a more vintage feel than the b/w. You’d think it would be the other way around wouldn’t you?
black and white,gives it that noir feeling.
@rilthe - Thank you for the comment and yes, in this particular shot b/w does look rather bleak.
@Roadkill_Spatula - Thanks for your comment. I love restored vintage vehicles. Much work but so worth the time and effort. My son restored a 1952 Chevy pickup. It is a beauty now and in just as bad of shape as this one when he began restoration.
I like the b/w it gives the vintage feel
@kimsweetness - Thank you for stopping by and for the comment.
I love old trucks ,you have captured it so well, Miss you.
Ooo that picture is amazing! I really liked the colored one.. it gives more of a vintage look/feel to it. would also make a great post card lol
@seedsower - Thank you for stopping by Beth.
@Nuclear_Kisses_xo - Thanks for stopping by!
I’m a sucker for B&W! I’m glad you are back and hope your addiction is controlled…
You captured this old truck so well! I think I prefer the color, though the black and white is lovely too. :]
@murisopsis - Thanks for the comment. Good to be back and hopefully controlled LOL.
@UnconventionalButterfly - Thanks for the comment.
I do hope that at some time you will find some gallery to have a showing of your photos. They are that good. I loved the one you had of the truck going down the dirt road I believe last summer. I like the color pic.
I remember when color pictures became common enough for everyday people to have them, and I am partial to color. I love the warmth and the definition of color. I suppose there are times when black and white is more “artsy” to borrow a term from my kids, but for everyday viewing, I will take color anytime.
And I am so glad you are “back” I did miss you, but I’ve been off a lot myself. Xanga is a wonderful thing, but it surely does take some maintaining. I’m glad that there aren’t “rules” for having a xanga site — some of us would truly be left out, that is for sure. Take care, dear friend. I still hope that someday we can meet in person.
@TheSunnyC - Well thank you so much. Yes I also like the one of the truck with the dust behind it going down the gravel road.
@Buckeyegirlie - Thank you for your comment. I think the b/w is such a change from the color we all are used to that it provokes more attention to detail and maybe is more emotional. I like both. I will let your “I’ve been off” go without comment LOL after all you have children to tease you enough about “being off” LOL.
If we’d actually met we’d have much to talk about wouldn’t we BEG. Well you folks are evidently the travelers, maybe you can head this way someday. We seldom leave the state anymore.But I’d love to meet you!
I like the color one. Welcome back =)
I like the color picture best. I love looking at old buildings too. Maybe because I feel in kinship with them, old and falling apart.
@oxlorixo - Thanks for the comment.
@mcbery - Thanks for the comment and yes
I know the feeling LOL.
Color I love the green we have an old truck bed trailer the same old green color.
Blessings, Christie
@Shepherdsfold - Thanks for the comment!
Wow, that is a pretty sweet looking truck. Shame it has to sit there rotting away in a field. Where’s my billions of dollars when I need it….
@DislocatedTexan@ireallylikefood - thanks for the comment. Yes I’ve been wondering where my billions of dollars are also! LOL
I like them both but think I prefer the color…I like to see the world in color I remember when movies were in B&W and also tv…It was amazing when everything came to life in color. I guess I never outgrew that feeling.
I haven’t been around xanga too much either. Just trying to catch up a bit! Hope you have a wonderful weekend
@murisopsis - thanks for the comment.
@dingdongdingbat - Good to hear from you! You have a nice weekend also.
I prefer in color because of the green of the truck . The green says: there is hope yet ?????
Perhaps !
Love
Michel
@fauquet - Thanks for your comment. I like the color shot best because the graphics really show nicer.
I’ve been gone for some time now, and am trying to get caught up. LOVE the truck pics! I usually don’t care for black and white, but it is GREAT in color or black and white. The way you caught the light is amazing!
@DanishDoll - Welcome back! Thanks for the comment.
Both photos exhibit a interest in their own right. Lighting is just everything. Can’t choose….like them both for different reasons
@thistlepatch - Thanks for comment!
I thought of you this morning and wondered where you were.
Hello, is anybody home?
@mcbery - taking a leave but I shall return
@dingdongdingbat - I shall return, taking a leave.
I completely missed this blog post and wondered where’d you’d been! I love the photos, especially the one in color. I know that I’ve been online alot….the more angry I get with life, the more I sit on here and and glaze over. Or, I feel good about what’s going on and I sit on here and encourage people or just “check in”. Crazy me. I’m considering ditching Facebook soon. It’s just too much and I get all full of anxiety…not good for me! I’m thinking I’ll just pop in on xanga once in a bit, and maybe kick back into gear with my elmbeetlehill.blogspot. We’ll see. I hope you and hubby are getting along well with what happens in life and that you see the blessings in the dailyness.
I like it in color!
have missed you around here as often as you were…
but totally understand needing to pull back.
hugs.
