Rain here!
After a lovely early spring with plenty of rain we then experienced a very dry spell…..up until last night. It rained 1/2 an inch here in our little corner of Southern Iowa. This morning everything is fresh and clean and the grass is perking up. We could use more but this has certainly helped.
It is haying time here and many have their 1st cutting completed and the bales picked up. The smell of freshly cut hay fills the air, it’s very nice. We no longer farm but our son does. He raises cattle and the hay crop is vital to his operation.

We celebrated the 57th wedding anniversary of our good friends last evening. A quiet gathering with a few close friends. Their wedding picture shows 2 skinny young kids dressed for a simple ceremony, she was 16 he was 18. I like to say it is not how you start out but how you end up that matters. It does my heart good to see long term marriages celebrated.

Love these old barns!

Sweet post, dear friend. We are really hoping for some rain tonight, too. We need it rather desperately!
And you are so right, it is all in how you “finish the race” that tells the tale of the journey!
@Buckeyegirlie - Indeed!
I’m glad you got some rain. We haven’t had any yet.
It seems like it rains more than anything else here, but the farmers are happy when we get a lot at this time of year. I like to see some blue skies, though! I totally agree that the wedding particulars are not as important as the marriage! We recently celebrated 39 years of hot, righteous love!
My husband is my best friend. I am so blessed to have him. I always enjoy your photos!
I like that old barn,too
I think that is a long time to be married but if you like each other then it flys by.
we were all skinny kids when you look back, weren’t we? lol
the corn is getting high here, too
We have had rain all day today after a beautiful 90 degree day yesterday. It is good to see so many people celebrating long time marriages. We will be going to a 50th celebration in a few weeks..
@DanishDoll - We will celebrate our 48th anniversary this month. I know how you feel about your spouse being your best friend. Love this term “hot righteous love”, sweeter as the years go by!
I love the old barns too. Still really dry here. We’re praying for rain. Got sprinklers going in the pastures.
We need rain in north georgia really bad, we had a little over a half inch on the 9th and now I’m afraid to open the water bill =/ We’ve been married 40 years next Sunday, those vow’s I promised to God are the reason we’ve made it this far. Welcome back – it’s good to see you around!
@mlbncsga - Thank you! We’ve now had several recent rains and how nice it is! Droughts are so awful. The crops look good now.
How did I miss this post??? Must’ve been busy or something. Yes, those long-term marriage celebrations are wonderful. We need to have one of our own, just to generate some fun! Hubby and I celebrated 32 years in May. I was looking through old photos and saw my Bread box in some of the photos of my bridal shower. So, I’ve had that for a long time. Sometimes, lately, I’ve felt like I’ve had Hubby for a long time and I feel a bit bored. Did that ever happen to you? What do you do to get a spark back? Going to weddings makes it more difficult sometimes because the couples are so in love and in romance and in lust and in the glamorous,in-the-spotlight moment of the wedding and reception. We’re just part of the older Been There-Done That crowd, a little more broke because we’ve given yet another wedding gift! ) 8
I miss your blogs and hearing from you. How are you doing?
Reminds me of the old song lyrics, “She was 16 going on 17…”
57 years is to be celebrated! Happy Anniversary to your friends!
